It is with deep sadness that we announce the resignation of long time Senior Head Coach, Mark Hoskins. Following discussions with the committee Mark decided to hang up his clipboard and whistle prior to the 2017 pre-season training and divert his attention to matters outside of football. The Committee and entire membership owe a great deal to Mark for his dedication and unwavering effort since 2011. He was paramount in keeping the club alive in the early days and growing it to the excellent position it now finds itself in and the Devils will be eternally grateful.
However, it is with great pleasure that the Devils announce the new Senior Team Head Coach, Chris Mills, for the 2017 season. Chris joined the Devils from Bristol Apache at the end of the 2015 season and quickly established himself as a leader both on and off the field. Originally expecting to be Offensive Coordinator for the 2017 season, the committee had no hesitation in asking if he wished to step up to the Head Coach role.
Accepting the role Chris remarked, “I’m very much looking forward to leading the Devils through their associate year and into the league in 2018. Our off-season recruitment has been nothing short of incredible. The significant number of new rookies have already bonded with a well coached and talented group of veterans. I’d like to take this opportunity to personally thank former Head Coach Mark Hoskins for all his work these past years. The Devils organisation may not be where it currently is without his dedication. However, we move on as a unit into exciting times. I’m confident we’ll enter the league in 2018 and have a thrilling 2017 associate season building this team on our way there”
Following on from the appointment , the Devils are still looking for additional coaches to join the senior team coaching staff.
We welcome any experienced coaches moving from other programs or newcomers to the sport who maybe don’t fancy playing but would like to get involved. Our staff currently consists of ex-international players, fitness instructors and personal trainers… all mad about football! To coach American football in the UK you must be over 18 and hold a minimum of a BAFA Level 1 coaches certificate. Those who are new to the sport need not worry as we can arrange to have you placed on a course as soon as possible and get you on your way.
Currently our Senior team practices on Sunday afternoons. If you’d like to become a coach at the Devils please give us a shout using our contact form HERE.
