Last Saturday the great and the good of the Norwich Devils American Football Club joined together to applaud the past year and reward those that helped make it such a successful year of growth for the club. Returning to competitive action, a winning associate season and a move to a new ground, as well as an expansion of the membership, were just some of the things to celebrate.
The first awards since 2010 saw attendees really enter into the spirit of things, with a dress code of smart resulting in many a suit for the guys and elegant dresses for the ever supportive wives and girlfriends. Lineman Liam Lane superbly hosted the event held at the Army Reserve Centre in Norwich, magnificently decked out in Navy and Gold to honour the club colours. Liam was ably supported by new Chairman Chris Handley who, following a feast of food and prior to dancing the night away, handed out the awards as follows:
Rookie Of The Year
The Perriton Award
(Most Improved Player)
Lineman Of The Year
Coaches’ Player Award
The Richard Green Award
(Biggest Contribution to the Club)
The Club would like to thank all those that supported the event and helped make it such a success. Their continued support is fully appreciated and we love them being part of the Devils family.
Special thanks go to:
Richard and Carol Price for catering the event, a tough task for such a large and hungry group.
Gary and Sharon Lewis for the sound, lighting and Disco. The team danced the night away which is more cardio than they normally do.
The Army Reserve centre for providing the venue.
John Lewis, Spowston Manor, Football America, EP Sports, Slaters, Optimise Media, Bertrams and Agent Shave for providing such wonderful raffle prizes.
And last but not least, Vicki Dower, Laura Handley, Quilty Keohane and Shelley Wones for supporting Liam and bringing everything together.
Congratulations to all the award winners, here’s to a great 2016 and an even better 2017.
