Everybody knows the Norwich Devils have been around British American football for a long time, but not everybody knows the full story. The ex-players, fans and even the rivals of the club might remember the days when we played at Plantation Park during the 1990s or even way back when the Devils used to fill the stands at the Royal Norfolk Showground. Wouldn’t it be great to be able to dig up some of those articles to show new players and fans just what the club was like way back when?
Thanks to the efforts of the committee and the web team this is now possible. The good news is we’ve kept records of all the old articles pumped out through the website since 2007, but the truly great news is we’ve been given access to some of the really old stuff archived by past members. Finally after a few months of sifting through all the papers and data files we’ve uploaded over 200 historical articles from between 1984 to 2009 and over 650 images. All of this information is live now on the website under the ‘senior’ tab on the menu. All you need to do is click on the decade you want to view to bring up a list of whats available. For example, how about a picture from one of the first ever training sessions in 1984?…
At present we are still in the process of uncovering more photos and articles and would appreciate any help fans or players could provide. Donations of old Norwich Devils news paper cuttings, videos or photos would be gratefully received. If you’d rather not send us the original, scans or copies would also be greatly appreciated.
Finally, the Devils would like to take the opportunity to say a big thank you to Steve Playford and Phil Wade who lovingly archived and submitted the vast majority of the articles.
We hope you enjoy reading about our history!
